CorrAction: In car DUI alert and detection
CorrActions provides a motion-based, software-only driver-monitoring product that uses unconscious, uncontrollable muscular submovements to monitor brain activity. By tracking submovements from sources such as steering wheels and smartphones, CorrActions can detect a wide range of cognitive states, including fatigue, inattention, anxiety, alcohol or drug use, and more. CorrActions enables OEMs, tier ones, fleets, and mobility operators to better understand their drivers’ cognitive states and to take action when necessary.
The situation:
Alcohol is a depressant that progressively impairs brain function, hindering essential driving skills such as thinking, reasoning, and coordination. The more alcohol consumed, the greater the negative impact on the central nervous system, leading to an increased risk of accidents.
What we did:
Assessing driver’s cognition, with a particular emphasis on detecting driving under the influence (DUI). The initial phase involved simulating driving scenarios using steering wheel position/motion sensors to gather data. Later on, CorrActions’ technology will be adapted to work within the specific capabilities of Hyundai vehicles, culminating in real-world testing during driving.
